To The Daughter Whose Mother Is Still here
You can still call her. You can hear the way she answers, watch her hands move, listen to a story you have heard before. Yet you find your way here, to daughters who would give anything for one more ordinary day. Maybe you are not here to fear what comes later. Maybe you are here because love recognizes love. Our stories are teaching you to ask another question, take the picture, save the voicemail, notice what feels too familiar to lose. You are learning your mother before you have to remember her. None of this will make grief easier when your day comes. But these lessons will carry you: the sound of her voice, the details of who she was, and the peace of knowing you were present while she was here. I see you, too—learning from our grief how to live more fully inside your blessing.
