Still Family. Still Left Out. The Cost of Being Neutral.
Some families will ask you to show up for the funeral, then remind you that you still don’t belong.
And the people who see it? They call themselves neutral.
You don’t have to settle every disagreement to say, “She deserves to be included.” You don’t have to know every detail to refuse to repeat a story you never bothered to verify.
But when keeping your place in the family matters more than questioning how someone else is treated, your silence has a cost. Someone else is paying it.
She is grieving her mother, defending her name, and watching children learn that excluding her is acceptable.
Then, when she finally stops showing up, everyone has something to say about her absence.
You had so little to say about what made her leave.
Still family. Still left out.
